The Galaxy Guide to Running My Rocket Review - Neurodivergent-Affirming Emotional Regulation Resource for Kids

Looking for fresh, neurodivergent-affirming therapy ideas to make emotional regulation more engaging?

Occupational Therapist @sprout.with.amy.ot shared her love for the Galaxy Guide to Running my Rocket, a set of imaginative emotional regulation activities designed by two OTs from Australia.

Her favorite pick - Book Two - is filled with creative, whole-body sensory activities that bring joy and imagination into therapy sessions. From pretending to patch holes in a spacesuit to guided breathing stories like Dreamhouse, these resources make self-regulation fun, meaningful, and deeply engaging for kids.

Perfect for occupational therapists, speech therapists, and educators, the Ready Rocket Kids Workshop helps you create neuroaffirming therapy sessions that spark imagination, connection, and growth.

"If your aim is to be neurodivergent and affirming, but we're kind of struggling on how to be more creative when addressing our kids, then I want to show you these resources that came all the way from Australia from two OTs. My favorite is book two because it is loaded with a bunch of activities and it shocked me on how creative they were. I definitely have used some of these in my sessions already, but I wanted to share it with you guys. These whole body activities are great for that deep pressure probe input, but my favorite part about this resource is how creatively it's expressed. For example, pretend you're wearing a spacesuit, but you have some holes in it. Oh no! Patch the holes by tightly squeezing your body. Like, that is just so much more fun than just saying, give yourself a big hug. If you have an imaginative kiddo, they're going to love these activities and there's so many of them. Here are some examples of the breathing activities. I love the Dreamhouse one. These are great to use as scripts. You can read them directly to your child or to take your own spin on it."
